Teacher Service Record (FIN-115)

The original service record must be given to the employee or an employing school district or charter school upon request. Districts are required to provide the record no later than the 30th day after the request is made or the 30th day after the date of the last day of the individual’s employment, whichever is later (Texas Education Code (TEC) §21.4031).

Current employees also may request a service record for reasons other than moving to another school district. For these purposes, the district should respond to the request within 30 days. This record wouldn’t include the current year of service if it is made during the school year.

Open Records Act

George Gervin Youth Center Inc. recognizes that Texas law gives the public the right to access certain government records that are otherwise not exempt from disclosure, and that the law contains guidelines for the timeframe in which we must respond to requests for information.

Rights as a requestor?

Governmental bodies are required to treat all requestors equally. Governmental bodies are also required to notify requestors if a ruling request is submitted to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). Further, a governmental body is required to release requested information promptly. If a governmental body fails to comply with any aspect of the PIA, the OAG can provide assistance to requestors.
