Hello my name is Francis going I am the superintendent at the George Gervin Academy as you know schools are required to close its facilities to students as a safety precaution based on going concern surrounding the Covid 19 virus we will be closed to all students until April 6th 2020 or until further guidance from the government.  We are committed to ensuring minimal interruption in your child's learning therefore we have set up distance online learning opportunities for all of our students. 
 We will also provide services to our special ed and ESL students.  Our staff has worked hard to develop lessons and instructional support to connect you and your child.  Therefore it is vital that you respond to any attempted contacts made about our school to get set up for this unique experience, you should communicate with each student teachers first, if there is no response then you need to call the front desk and that number is 210-568-8800 we will assist you in every way possible through free internet connection mobile devices texting and proper training.  We will walk you through the entire process on how to access instructional material. Teachers will also be available to assist you in your childhood lessons when needed your role will be vital in assisting Us in continuing your child's education.  That's why it's imperative that you stay in close contact or communication with the school. This is Paramount to ensuring your child is promoted to the next grade and can graduate on time.  The state has already waived the STAAR test for this year but the school must document student attendance, their participation, Academic progress and completed work assignment.  The following announcement are as follows: attendance and participation will be monitored daily, report cards for the 3rd nine weeks will be provided to each student via their Google Classroom account. George Gervin Academy will be continuing class instruction via Google Classroom which will be done electronically.  If you need assistance with technology please contact your child's teacher due to this new online experience George Academy in Texas Education Agency is relying on all parents to ensure all classroom assignments are completed in a timely manner lack of attendance and completion of work online could result in mention of your child in their current grade we need future frequently to review our website at www.gervin-school.org or are George Gervin Facebook page for any update teachers would need your personal email your cell phone number or any other method for constant communication on a daily basis for those families that have trouble using technology or don't have access to technology instructional packets will be distributed every Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the main campus and also at the San Pedro campus at the entrance. I must reiterate we need good phone numbers and emails please help us to help your child we will also continue to provide free meals breakfast and lunch go to and for the instructional packets in any other support that's needed the main office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to address issues we are all Partners in this journey in everyone need it so there is no interruption to our children we need your help thank you
